My soap making process
Pure goat milk soap making blends simple, natural ingredients with careful technique to create a gentle, moisturizing bar ideal for sensitive skin. Start by cooling fresh goat milk to prevent scorching, then slowly combine it with a measured lye solution while stirring continuously to reach trace; this step requires precise temperatures and safety gear because lye is caustic. Add high-quality oils like olive, lard, and castor for balance—olive for conditioning, lard for lather, castor for creaminess—keeping the recipe proportions to achieve a stable, long-lasting bar. Optional additions such as oatmeal, honey, or essential oils can enhance texture and scent, but minimal formulations preserve the milk’s nourishing properties. Once poured into molds, cure the soap in a dry, ventilated spot for 4–6 weeks to allow saponification to complete and excess water to evaporate, resulting in a hard, mild bar with a creamy, skin-friendly feel.
